I know, I know, but hear me out. According to a 2013 article “20 Scientific Reasons to Start Meditating Today,” in Psychology Today, meditation can have a positive effect not only on your mental health, but on your physical health and your brain. So how does one meditate? According to the article “Meditation 101: Techniques, Benefits, And A Beginner’s How-To” in Gaiam, if you have never meditated before, it’s a good idea to start by paying close attention to your breathing. This article also said that people meditate in a lot of different ways, such as Mindfulness Meditation, which is centered around acknowledging one’s thoughts during meditation, and Concentration Meditation, which is centered around concentrating on one thing for an extended period of time. Basically, meditation is not a one-size-fits-all kind of thing. So, going into the long weekend, if you find yourself with some time on your hands and some stress in your brain, give meditation a shot.
