I’m reaching the end of my year as Health Editor, so pretty soon someone else is going to step into my shoes as Good For You blogger. As such, I thought it would be appropriate to write about shoes. I’m sure you’ve heard that it’s always a good idea to wear ‘good shoes,’ but many don’t know exactly what constitutes a ‘good’ shoe?
According to Harvard Women’s Health Watch, if you want to get shoes that will benefit your foot, and consequently body, health be sure that they support your foot’s arch, and that they have a rounded toe-area that doesn’t pinch your toes. This article also stressed that high heels are not the way to go for everyday footwear, because they can give you bunions, and even cause your Achilles tendon to contract.
And don’t forget to find shoes that fit! According to VeryWellHealth, it’s a good idea to update your foot measurements at a shoe store once every 6 to 12 months, because your feet tend to get bigger as you age, even as an adult.
